Humidity — From a Stressed New Tech to a Product Developer

From battling stubborn glue to creating a game-changing solution, Amanda’s journey started with frustration and ended with innovation.

Like every new lash tech, she struggled with unpredictable adhesive—some days it worked like magic, other days it was a sticky, beady disaster. No one had clear answers, just vague advice and pricey gadgets that didn’t actually fix the problem.

Let’s be real—humidity doesn’t play nice. Vague advice won’t cut it. You need to spot the clues and know exactly what to do the moment things go south.

Because when you’re thinking, Houston, we have a problem, the last thing you want is a maybe, kinda, sorta answer. You need a solution—and fast.

Amanda’s Journey

I’ve been lashing since 2010, and humidity is still the ultimate drama queen—throwing fits, messing with glue, and demanding all the attention. Everyone’s busy tracking it, controlling it, and basically bending over backward to keep it happy. The goal? Make your room work for your glue. But here’s a crazy thought—why not make your glue work for your room instead? Spoiler alert: Midnight’s Wink kicked humidity off its throne, and we’ve got everything you need to do the same.

Humidifier

I went all in—humidifiers, dehumidifiers, hygrometers. My lash room looked like a weather station. The goal? That mythical 60% humidity. The reality? A hot mess. My glue worked great one minute and betrayed me the next. Turns out, I was fighting the wrong battle the whole time!

Mornings were a dream—perfect glue, happy clients, flawless retention. But by the afternoon? Total chaos. The weather would shift, and suddenly, my glue had an attitude problem.

Clients from earlier in the day came back with amazing retention, while my afternoon clients? Not so much.

Then came the fumes—clients who never noticed a thing before were suddenly complaining like they’d walked into a science lab gone wrong. Turns out, that was an important clue (which, of course, I ignored at first).

I thought controlling humidity would be easy—humidifier ON, dehumidifier OFF. Too dry? Flip the switch. Too damp? Flip it back. Simple, right? Nope. My hygrometers took their sweet time adjusting, so much so that I had to reset them weekly just to make sure they weren’t lying to me.

Humidity had a mind of its own, and I was just along for the ride. One minute, everything was fine—then boom! A client having a hot flash, someone mopping the floors, or a surprise rainstorm turning my lash room into a sauna. People walking in dripping wet? Yeah, not exactly helping. How was I supposed to lower the humidity when the universe seemed determined to crank it up? Whatever the reason, my humidity was out of control, and I was one eyelash away from losing my mind!

Winter didn’t make things any easier. Where I live, it’s freezing, which means outdoor humidity is 85%, but inside? A bone-dry 20%. Running the furnace sucked out every bit of moisture—kind of like a giant clothes dryer for my lash room. Getting the humidity up to 60% felt like trying to fill a bathtub one drop at a time.

So, I decided to try a new glue with a lower humidity range. That’s when the real glue-juggling act began. I stopped obsessing over humidity readings and just started swapping glues mid-appointment—sometimes even mid-eye! If one felt too slow, I switched. If it dried too fast, I switched again. At first, I thought I was just patching a problem. Turns out, I had actually cracked the code to humidity freedom!

My subconscious was way ahead of me, dropping little hints about when to switch glues. Once I actually started paying attention, it hit me—wait… could it really be this simple?! The “crutch” I had been relying on wasn’t holding me back—it was setting me free! No more battling humidity like a crazed scientist.

Hygrometer

I spent way too long searching for the one—the holy grail of lash glue, the mythical formula that could handle anything. Spoiler alert: It didn’t exist. No matter the brand, nothing was ever truly consistent.

Then, I stopped obsessing over finding the glue and started actually listening to the little clues my glue was giving me. And suddenly? Everything got easier. Was it perfect? No. But it was so much better I swear I deserved a Nobel Prize (or at least a lifetime supply of overpriced lattes).

And then… OCEAN and DESERT entered my world. And just like that—BOOM—GAME. CHANGER. Humidity? Irrelevant. Temperature? Please. For the first time, my results were actually consistent. I could book appointments without bracing for disaster, knowing exactly how long they’d take—no surprises, no stress, no glue-induced panic.

I ditched the humidity obsession and started my day with OCEAN. Things would flow smoothly for a few clients—until suddenly, the glue was taking its sweet time to cure, leaving behind a sticky mess. That was my clue to switch to DESERT. Then, just when I thought I was in the clear, the glue would start drying too fast, making lashes pop off like tiny catapults. Time to switch back!

Some days, one swap did the trick. Other days, involved more swaps. But instead of stressing over numbers on a hygrometer, I focused on what actually mattered—the clues. And guess what? It worked! No more chasing humidity. Just smooth, frustration-free lashing, finally.

OCEAN and DESERT are like twins—same DNA, same top-tier performance—but they thrive in totally different climates. One loves moisture, the other prefers it dry. Together, they cover a game-changing humidity range of 20% to 90%!

I’ve tried other glues that claimed to handle all humidity levels, but let’s be real—they just didn’t deliver. With OCEAN and DESERT, I finally found consistency, and let me tell you, consistency is everything when it comes to lash magic!

That’s exactly why The Lazy Lash-Glue Guide© was born—because who has time for glue drama? OCEAN and DESERT are the ultimate lash dream team, delivering flawless, stress-free consistent results every time.

The 8 clues in The Lazy Lash-Glue Guide© are like cheat codes for perfect retention—without them, you’d be playing a never-ending guessing game, hoping humidity takes pity on you. But don’t worry, we don’t just hand you the clues and say, “Good luck!” We tell you exactly what to do with them, so your results are always on point—not just when humidity decides to be nice.

It’s been a wild ride—stressful, humid, and full of trial and error—but now? I lash without a care in the world! Humidity? Temperature? Not my problem anymore. I know my clients’ retention is solid because I’ve got the 8 clues and the best adhesives on my side.

Midnight's Wink Glue Adhesive Kit

How good is the retention? Let me tell you—one of my clients got colored lashes, then switched back to black at her next fill. Three months later, some of those colored lashes were STILL hanging on! I had to double-check her client card because I couldn’t believe it. That’s when I realized: these lashes weren’t budging until the natural lash decided it was time to go!

I always tell my clients, “If you think you’re shedding a lot, check the fallen extensions—do they still have your natural lash attached?” Most of the time, they do! It’s just part of the natural lash cycle (which, fun fact, tends to pick up in the spring and fall).

If you’ve picked up on your own humidity clues—maybe a little telltale sign that it’s time to switch from DESERT to OCEAN (or vice versa)—we’d LOVE to hear about it! Drop us an email, and spill the tea.
